Wesley Health Services: Wesley Private and Wandene Private Hospitals

Our History

Waddell House came into operation in 1946, where it provided care and treatment to persons suffering from epilepsy, and then for persons suffering from dementia. In 1956 Waddell House became a licensed 33 bed medical private hospital, and in response to community needs, with the encouragement of specialist psychiatrists, psychiatric services were included in the 1970s. In July 1984 Waddell House became registered as a private psychiatric and medical hospital. Image of Waddell House circa 1960

Since 1990, the hospital has been known as Wesley Private Hospital. From its inception the hospital has developed a solid reputation for quality care within a Christian environment, and has developed services and programs to meet community needs.

In 1998, Wesley Mission purchased Wandene Private Hospital in Kogarah to expand mental health services. Together, these two hospitals provide quality inpatient and day patient care.

Wesley Health Services is a division of Wesley Mission and a part of the Uniting Church in Australia.
