Flying Through...

2007 – Flying Through the Seven Churches of Revelation

The first century church was under a lot of pressure. They were leaderless, directionless and persecuted by the political power at the time, the Romans. The last of the Apostles, the Apostle John, was still alive, but imprisoned on the Island of Patmos. He knew of the problems facing the church – particularly the churches in his region. So he decided to write to them in a last attempt to keep them focused on the central message of the Gospel.

He informed them they weren’t leaderless – that they had God as their leader. They weren’t directionless – that they had the Bible as their guide. And finally he wanted to warn them not to succumb to greed, money and power – the ways of the Roman world -as it would only corrupt the church and destroy it.

The one hour documentary, Flying Through the Seven Churches of Revelation, captures this story outlining why the Apostle John wrote to the seven churches and what happened to them. The documentary is the second in the Flying series. The first was titled Flying Through the Gospels.  It focused on the Gospel story – the events that surround Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection.

Flying Through the Seven Churches of Revelation takes viewers on an aerial journey through the background and history of the seven ancient churches that the book of Revelation was written to – Smyrna, Ephesus, Pergamum, Laodicea, Thyatira, Philadelphia and Sardis, all found in Turkey.

The Rev Keith Garner hosts the documentary from a helicopter. He flies over most of the archaeological sites and outline the history and story of each church from the air.

These productions were filmed on XD Cam HD and broadcast on Channel 9 in High Definition.
