Southern bookworms contribute to Lifeline service
23 November 2011
Bargain hunters and book lovers headed for Tradies in Gymea on 28-30 October for the 2011 Lifeline Sutherland Book Fair. They chose from approximately 25,000 books and helped the local community in the process.
Lifeline Sutherland Book Fair Co-ordinator, Bentley Lakin, said the $27,500 raised was a significant boost to Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland.
“The money raised from the Book Fair will make a considerable difference to people in crisis and a positive contribution to the well-being of people in Southern Sydney,” she said.
“Community support has also been significant in making the event a success, especially the work of our 75 volunteers and support from the Sutherland Shire Council and Tradies.”
Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland took 6,333 calls from people in crisis in the Sutherland Shire last year.
