Keeping your mind well
Some of the key findings from the Wesley Report are on the prevention or management of mental health problems. A range of protective measures were found to shield people from the onset or ongoing effects of mental illness when coupled with help from health professionals.
Recognising warning signs of mental health problems
The Wesley Report confirmed previously-published research showing that there are a number of factors that can predispose people to developing a mental illness, or prolong an existing one.
Seeking Help
The first port of call for most people who believe they are suffering mental health problems is a close friend or family member. While social support is helpful, early intervention by health professionals offers the best chance of recovery or successful management.
If you are concerned about yourself, seek professional help as soon as possible, or if you are concerned about a loved one, calmly talk with them about seeking help by calling 02 9263 5577 to arrange an appointment with a counsellor.
